The Engineering & Design Process3:35pm - 4:00pm We'll talk about the Engineering and Design process used in the Robotics and Sikorsky STEM Challenge Team, as well as the usual layout of the year for each of these competitions. |
WEDNESDAY 8/19
Intro to Flight2:00pm - 2:30pm Have you ever wondered how a plane flies? In this session we will talk about the principles at work in flight. We'll also cover a bit of flight history and discuss some of the systems in modern aircraft. This is a great video to get some background knowledge if joining the Sikorsky STEM Challenge Team! Materials Please have 2 pieces of 8.5" x 11" paper prepared for a live activity. |
Electronics, TinkerCAD, & Arduino 3:00pm - 4:00pm We'll take a look at electronic components and build circuits in TinkerCAD's online Arduino simulator. You'll also learn about TinkerCAD's 3D modeling program. Materials Please set up an Autodesk or TinkerCAD account. |
THURSDAY 8/20
CAM 2:00pm - 2:30pm CAM, or Computer Aided Machinery, converts CAD into G-Code that a CNC will follow to cut a model into real materials. This session will go over the creation of toolpaths in the CAD and exporting that as G-Code. |
Fusion 360 Modeling, Animations, & Simulations2:35pm - 4:00pm This session will introduce you to modeling in Fusion 360. This is the main CAD software used by the Robotics and Sikorsky STEM Challenge teams. Materials Please have an Autodesk account set up and download Fusion 360 before the live-stream. |
FRIDAY 8/21
Environmental Science2:00pm - 2:40pm Learn about sustainability and opportunities to get involved in climate activism at Barlow! |
Robotics Team Coding2:45pm - 3:30pm This session will go over the coding process in a regular season, starting with how to translate actions to pseudo code, and ending with testing methods. There will be some student activities in the form of small exercises to demonstrate certain points. |
